General Trias Cavite – On July 29, 2022, Our Lady of Fatima University welcomed ROC.PH General Manager, Mr. Ron Oliver Clarin, to appear as a guest speaker to their information technology and computer science professors in a webinar titled “Academe-Industry Linkages and Pathways Business Meeting.” He was awarded a certificate of appreciation for his valuable contribution and unending support towards the success of the College of Computer Studies via Zoom Conference signed by its Dean, Prof. Raymond S. Macatanga.
Mr. Clarin has talked about his humble beginnings, including how he began working on the Joomla website for a friend in 2007 when he was just 17 years old and how, at the age of 18, he was hired as a web developer. His primary source of income at the time and his first local freelance work. Later, between 2009 and 2017, he was exposed to more sophisticated web development, virtual assistance, and data analytics experiences. This led to him being hired as a freelance virtual assistant (VA) professional by clients from around the world after he had completed the training required to launch his company, which led to the development of the ROC.PH platform.
The Academic Industry Linkages and Pathways Business Meeting offered Sir Ron of ROC.PH the opportunity to enter into a longer-term partnership agreement with OLFU in order to become one of the university’s trusted employers for sending its students for internships and post-graduate virtual work experiences. Prior to or after graduation, it will act as a stepping stone for students to gain crucial skills and services. As the General Manager of one of the most thriving start-up firms in the country, Mr. Clarin shared his expertise and insights from establishing and running ROC.PH. He also provided feedback and suggestions on how to enhance the university’s internship program for the benefit of the OLFU Computer Studies community.
