🛡️ Web Security for Nonprofits Made Simple: Everyday Website Safety for a Nonprofit Team

Updates, passwords, backups, and how to spot a suspicious message

Date: 📅 March 30, 2027 (Tuesday)

Time: ⏰ 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM (Asia/Manila)

Location: 📍 Live via Google Meet

💡 Is the Nonprofit Website Protected by One Shared Password?

Nonprofit teams often inherit a website, a donation page, and a handful of logins that several volunteers know. A suspicious email or an old plugin can interrupt donations and the public page supporters rely on.

This session stays on the defensive side. It covers habits for accounts, updates, and backups. It does not teach anyone how to break into a site.

Does your nonprofit site depend on a login that too many people share?

  • ❌ Shared Admin Logins: Several people use one password, so you cannot tell who changed the site.

  • ❌ Old Plugins: The site has not been updated because nobody is assigned to do it.

  • ❌ No Backup: If the site breaks, there is no recent copy to restore.

  • ❌ Lookalike Messages: A volunteer is asked to “verify” a login from an email that is not from your host.

The Goal: Help nonprofit staff and volunteers keep the public site and its accounts safer with updates, separate logins, backups, and a habit of checking unexpected messages.

🔥 What You’ll Learn

Give Each Person a Login Stop sharing one admin password among the whole team.

Remove Access You No Longer Need Close accounts when a volunteer or vendor leaves.

Update on a Set Day Assign someone to apply website updates after a backup.

Keep a Backup Confirm you can restore the site, not only that a backup button exists.

Pause on Unexpected Email Check a login request by going to the site yourself instead of using a link in the message.

Write the Emergency Contact Know who to call at your host if the public site goes down.

🎯 Who Should Attend?

  • ✔ Nonprofit Staff who look after the public website

  • ✔ Volunteer Web Editors with access to the site

  • ✔ Board Members asking whether the site is being maintained

  • ✔ Donation-Page Owners who need the giving page to stay available

  • ✔ Small Organization Admins without a full-time technical team
