Araw ng Kagitingan: Remembering the brave soldiers who fought in the Battle of Bataan
The 9th of April is a significant day in the Philippines since it is a much-loved holiday that inspires pride in the country’s history and identity.
In the Philippines, there are many official annual holidays celebrated by the country’s very diverse population. The purpose of these commemorations is to strengthen national unity, promote awareness and respect for the country’s rich history and heritage, and celebrate the ideals of patriotism and democracy.
Araw ng Kagitingan is an opportunity to honor those who risked their lives through deeds or sacrifices to preserve the country’s sovereignty and freedom, a privilege that most Filipinos take for granted. The Filipino people are also encouraged to take a moment of silence and reflect on the hardships and sacrifices made by previous generations instead of taking these basic human rights and privileges for granted.
Although originally a day of remembrance, people are encouraged not only to reflect on their history and share stories but also to perform good deeds, such as donating blood, flowers, or meals to those in need. It is a day to pay tribute to those who served and died so that we could have the freedom we have now. It was also a day when Filipinos felt that they can contribute to their country through charity work and be proud of themselves despite the defeat.
As the ROC.PH Digital Marketing Services join the nation in the commemoration of 80th Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor), our office will not be in operation today, April 09, and will resume on April 10, 2022. Let us remember those who fought and died for their country, as well as an opportunity to celebrate them as heroes who served their country with bravery and honor rarely seen in today’s world
